Clarke

"Each day we die, each day we are changed and still we believe ourselves to be immortal."  Jerome

"Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes.  Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly.  Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end.  What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind.  Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such."  Henry Miller

Closing the covers of a book does not always end your relationship with the material you've read.

The Oasis, by Petru Popescu, is one story I expect to carry with me for a long time though I am currently vacillating between its lessons of hope and survival and the needless horrors so many people have experienced at the hands of their fellows.

Popescu's in-laws met in a concentration camp and survived the Holocaust to find each other and go on with their lives.  I feel privileged to have shared their story.  Nancy
