There must be something in the water in Florida.  (Oh wait, I have intelligent, hard working, wonderful family there - with beach access.) 

Anyway, a whole lot of weirdly funny writers live in Florida, too, so there has to be something special going on in one of the most delightful states in the Union.  (Nice save, Nancy.)  Consider:

• Dave Barry - Twisted commentary par excellence.
• Tim Dorsey - His hero is a serial killer, but not the awful rapist kind.
• Carl Hiaasen - Slightly warped novels I wish I had written.
• Elmore Leonard - Crime and punishment for the deliciously bent reader.
• Joe R. Lansdale - His books are set in East Texas, so there goes my weird water in Florida theory.

And I think they all play in a rock band, the Remainders*, together.  Nancy

*Remainders are the unsold books a publishing house gets stuck with when they didn't promote a wonderful literary effort the way they should have.
