Cookbook Reviews
I asked my dear friend, Martha Baker, to suggest a cookie recipe I could try for my handbell choir’s cookie exchange. Ever generous, she gave me three - including these very pretty (and tasty) treats.
Enjoy, |

You’ll need:
Cream the sugar and shortening. Stir in the peanut butter, egg, and milk. Sift the flour, soda, and salt together, and add to the above mixture. Place the dough on floured wax paper, and roll out into a 15” x 18” rectangle. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. Spread the melted chocolate over dough. Roll up the dough like a jellyroll and chill. Slice the chilled dough into 1/4” thick pieces. Place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° F for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool before removing the cookies from the cookie sheet. Makes 4 dozen cookies. Thank you, Miss Martha. ☺
