Please refer to the photo for guidance in length and width of tie as well as placement of collar and cuffs.
You'll need:
Wrap your gift with the solid color paper making sure the front is smooth with no taped closures showing. All folded ends should also be in the back.
Tie Cut out the shape of a tie by folding the brightest piece of patterned paper in half to form a long rectangle. Beginning at the bottom, cut a diagonal line to make the point of the tie, then cut up the sides, gradually narrowing to show the length, finally widening the cut for the knot. The tie should hang about 3/4 of the length of the front of the package. Tape the tie to the package making sure it goes clear to the top edge.
Collar Cut a narrow rectangle from the patterned paper (different from the tie) long enough to look like a collar when you form a circle with it. Tape the collar to the top of the package so the short ends meet, giving the appearance of a standup collar. Make sure the collar covers the top edge of the "knot" of the tie. Glue a button to the front of the collar.
Cuffs You will need to make two cuffs. Place two scraps of patterned paper that match the collar on top of each other, right sides together. Gently fold them in half, trying not to crease so your cuffs will look "3D." Cut rectangles a bit shorter and narrower than the collar. While the rectangles are still atop each other, cut one side in a slight diagonal. This will be the outside edge. Separate the rectangles. Double each rectangle over, and tape each of the cuffs to the package. Make sure the widest, pointy part is at the bottom outside edge. Glue a button to each cuff. .

You'll need:
Leave the cake in the pan or turn it out onto covered cardboard or a pretty platter. Ice the cake. Cut out the collar and cuffs as above. Tape the collar to toothpicks and insert them into the cake. Place the tie and cuffs on the cake, adding buttons last.
