Eternity Garden Where pets live FOREVER Schatzi and Peachie
fall mums in Oklahoma |
Partners in Crime By Vicki Akins Around Christmas time, I bought a cast iron mold of a gingerbread chateau. It had about 13 pieces to it, and I asked myself, how hard can this be? It was only cake and icing, after all. After about five baking attempts - all of which went into the trash, I finally got one of the things put together and iced. I put it in a shopping bag, ready to give away as a Christmas gift, and left the house to run an errand. When I came back, the roof of the chateau was on the floor with a bite out of it and most of the frosting was gone. I looked around the room and the dog, Schatzi, was lying on the floor rolling her eyes. Her ears were laid back and she was looking very guilty. The calico cat, Peachie, was washing her face with her paw. It was obvious the cat had to have gotten the gingerbread house out of the bag because the bag wasn't torn and nothing else about the chateau had been touched. The bite out of the roof was quite large and had to have been from the dog. I assume they shared the frosting - true partners in crime. Although our pets may not always be the angels we want them to be, they're treasures, all the same. P.S. Schatzi is German for sweetheart and Peachie was named after an odd but thoroughly entertaining character in Jane Marie's novel, Velvet Undertow.
