Appetizer Cookbook Reviews Cookbook Reviews Recipes Appetizers Cheese Recipes There are many types of fondue. You can serve it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. This recipe is the classic with a variation from my daughter* It's a major yum when you dip bread, fruit or veggies - or combination of all three for a balanced meal. Enjoy, PS If you've got a fondue set, you probably have long fondue forks. If not, dinner forks can be used. Just be careful not to burn your wrists, taking special care when children are present. |
Assemble:
In a fondue pot turned to low, over a low flame, or in a double boiler on the stove, slowly melt the cheese. Stir in the brandy or beer to thin the mixture and add flavor. The alcohol will evaporate in the steam so this dish is fine and fun for the children. After the beer, add the garlic powder to taste. Place the fondue in the middle of the dinner table. If you've used a double boiler, you can pour the cheese mixture into a warm chafing dish, place it on an electric warmer or pour only half the cheese mixture into the serving dish, while the rest remains covered on a warm burner. Remember, it's not the fancy fondue pot that makes life gracious. It's the company with whom you share your meal.
