Photos 

• Go through the family albums to find at least three generations. It’s best if the head sizes are all approximately the same, but a professional can resize them for you, or you can get busy with your scanner and photo software.  Take them to the photo lab and have them tinted sepia (brown) or use your photo software again.

Put those headshots in a triple frame and present your offering.  Your dear one will be touched by your efforts. 

• Make a copy of your marriage license on parchment or special paper that appeals to you.  Purchase a silver or silver-plated tubular scroll/document holder (available in gift stores, antiques shops and catalogs) and present it to him on your anniversary.  If it has a chain, hang it in the bedroom, making all things “legal.”  (Keep the original marriage license locked away for safekeeping.)

 

Painting

• Commission an artist or art student (call your local high school, college or art school for recommendations) paint or draw your family home from a photograph. 

 

Plants

• Give a potted cactus with a silly note: "I’m stuck on you."

• The next time he or she builds, crafts or sews something, ask your love to carve or write his or her name or initials on the back or bottom.  Don’t forget the date.  Later generations will be thrilled  when they discover by whom and when the object was created.

 

Travel

• Whisk your beloved away for a special weekend. 

 

Wine

• A bottle of champagne or your favorite vintage can help set the mood for romance.
